A Vehicle with a Unique History

The Carpoint GT-K44 combines the classic transaxle technology of the basic vehicle with a body design that was never offered in this form by the original manufacturer.

With the Carpoint GT-K44, we have created an exceptional interpretation of the Porsche 944 as a classic shooting brake. The idea goes back to the legendary 924 estate car developed by Günter Artz in the 1980s. Andreas Freund, founder of Carpoint, personally drove such a 924 Artz for several months. Decades later, together with designer Michael Söhngen, the idea arose to reinterpret this extraordinary vehicle concept.

The first completed Carpoint GT-K44 was based on a 944 S2 with a 3.0-litre engine producing 211 hp. The vehicle was finished in Oak Green and featured a Pascha-pattern interior, following Michael Söhngen’s original design.

The name Carpoint GT-K44 stands for “Gran Turismo” and combines this term with the model designation of the original 944 and its newly created estate-style body.

The result is the Carpoint GT-K44 a individually built vehicle in which each example is created according to the wishes and specifications of its future owner.

Conversion to the Carpoint GT-K44

The 944 provided by you is transformed into the distinctive shooting-brake silhouette of the Carpoint GT-K44 through extensive bodywork.

For this purpose, the roof and rear structure of the vehicle are extensively modified. The new roof structure, large rear tailgate and modified rear body sections are individually manufactured and integrated into the existing body.

The conversion includes, among other things:

1. Modification and extension of the roof structure
2. Adaptation of the B-pillars and rear side sections
3. Integration of the large rear side windows
4. Fabrication of a rear tailgate
5. Modification of the rear bodywork accordingly
6. Modification of the rear lights to suit the new rear-end concept
7. All necessary bodywork and welding work
8. Professional preparation and painting of all modified exterior areas

The conversion includes a complete exterior repaint of the vehicle, including the door jambs.

If a different exterior colour from that of the base vehicle is desired, the engine compartment will also be painted black as part of the colour change, in accordance with the concept of our demonstration vehicle.

Every Carpoint GT-K44 is built with a high degree of individual craftsmanship. Several hundred hours of bodywork, construction and paintwork are invested in each vehicle before it is completed.

Please note: The vehicle is manufactured entirely by hand, and each car is considered an individual one-off because it is individually built to the customer's specifications. This is handcrafted production, not mass production.

Road Registration under German Law

The conversion to the Carpoint GT-K44 constitutes a modification of the vehicle that causes the operating permit of the base vehicle to expire pursuant to Section 19 (2) of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO).

Once the conversion has been completed, the vehicle is inspected by an officially recognised expert from an authorised testing organisation pursuant to Section 21 StVZO.

The inspection and the required presentation of the vehicle for this purpose are included in the price.

The issuance of the new operating permit and the amendment of the vehicle registration documents are carried out by the competent registration authority. The associated fees are borne by the customer.

Price outside Germany and outside the EU

The price for the conversion to a Carpoint GT-K44 is:

€100,000 net

The price applies to the standard specification, optional equipment and any additional work can be offered separately following prior consultation and will be charged in addition. The base vehicle is provided by the customer and is not included in the price.

The completed vehicle is handed over in Karlsruhe. Transportation or delivery can be arranged upon request for an additional charge.

For customers whose place of residence or registered office is outside Germany, VAT is governed by the applicable statutory regulations. As the work is carried out in Germany, German VAT will generally apply to private customers until the car gets exported outside EU Businesses based in other EU Member States may receive an invoice without German VAT upon providing valid proof of their VAT identification number (reverse-charge mechanism). Customs duties, import duties and taxes in the destination country are borne by the customer.
