Le tachymètre de la Porsche 911 pour les modèles 1969-1973 est un appareil mécanique analogique qui indique la vitesse du véhicule en miles par heure (mph) ou en kilomètres par heure (km/h), selon le marché sur lequel il a été vendu.

Le tachymètre se compose d'un cadran rond avec des chiffres allant de 0 à 160 mph (0 à 260 km/h) et d'une aiguille qui pointe vers la vitesse actuelle. Il y a également un compteur kilométrique journalier qui peut être réglé à l'aide d'un petit bouton en bas à droite du tachymètre.

Le tachymètre est relié à la boîte de vitesses par un câble et éclairé par une petite ampoule derrière l'affichage. L'affichage du compteur de vitesse a une coloration verte caractéristique, qui était un élément de design de Porsche à l'époque.

Il convient de noter qu'en 1974, Porsche a changé le design du tachymètre pour un instrument plus grand et plus lisible, qui est resté en usage pendant plusieurs décennies.
